Fujihara Award

Objective
Awards such Japanese scientists who have made distinguished contributions to the development of science and technology, together with supplementary prizes and memorials.

(1) Fields awarded
Fundamental and applied sciences in the field of natural science
(2) Awards
Two awards a year, each accompanied by a certificate of merit, a gold medal and a supplementary prize of 10 million yen.
(3) Recommendations
National, public and private universities, related academic societies, associations, institutions and research organizations, and individuals
(4) Period for accepting recommendations
October 1 to December 15 every year
(5) Selection
Candidates are classified into five study fields (Mathematics and Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Biology and Agriculture, and Medicine). And they are selected based on the decision of the Selection Committee (the 10 members shown in the attached list) and tile Subcommittees (approx. 15 members in total) of each study field.
